Charles (Chuck) Dimmler is a Vice Chairman at Torreya. A member of the Torreya team since 2009, Chuck leads Torreya’s Japan client coverage. As an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and operating executive, Chuck has been engaged with investment and development of life science companies for more than 30 years.
Prior to joining Torreya Partners, Chuck served as Chief Executive Officer of two development-stage life sciences companies, both of which were acquired by separate operating companies in India. From 2000 to 2005, Chuck served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lundbeck Inc., the US subsidiary of Copenhagen-based H. Lundbeck A/S, and the Chief Investment Officer of H. Lundbeck A/S.
From 1988 to 1999, Chuck was a general partner at Hambro International Equity Partners and Cross Atlantic Capital Partners, two US venture capital units of the London-based merchant banking firm, Hambros plc. Hambro International Equity Partners deployed capital from Japanese, European, and US institutional investors to start-up and development-stage companies principally in the United States.
Over the past 30 years, Chuck has served on more than 20 boards of directors and has chaired the audit and compensation committees on many of these boards.
From 2003 to 2007 Chuck served as a fund management advisor to the life sciences and health care investment funds of the Copenhagen-based Danske Bank. He is a former National Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
Chuck is a former infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He earned a B.A. degree in history from the University of California at Davis.
